Spring Cup '08 Champions

May 18th our Boy's U-15 team won the Coast Soccer League Spring Cup.  In just their second tournament of the season, the boys put together a very impressive performance.  After winning their Spring League bracket, they continued their good play into the Cup format of the Spring Leauge.  In five games the team scored 10 goals; But the more impressive stat is that in those five games the team gave up 0 goals against.  With a team that has been focused on out scoring opponents in the past, a new dedication to the defensive side of the game has really paid off. 

A defense that was led by our captain, and goal keeper, Juan Torres never looked out of sorts throughout the tournament.  Even with three of the games in the tournament being 1-0 games, the games were never really in question because it never seemed that our defense was going to allow a goal at any point.  Our four defenders (Luis Campos, Ryan Reeves, Julio Amaya, and Zachary Chavira) started and played every minute of every game in this tournament.

With our inspirational leader, Terrence Nelson, finally healthy again after a long lay off due to a hip flexor strain, our offense finally looked inspired again.  Hopefully with the team getting healthy again, we are starting to round into shape for a long run towards the league season.
