LunchCast – Kindle Fire

Monday, December 5th, 2011

The new 7″ Kindle Fire $199.00

If you own an iPad, you will not need the Fire.

If you are looking for the DROID experience on a 7″ tablet, you have found the right device.

Supports Flash web browsing, video playback.

Uses the AMAZON APP Store.

Supports Netflix, Youtube, Hulu and many other video services

This is not an iPad killer.
Does not have a camera or microphone, GPS, or Cellular Data service, or bluetooth

It does have WIFI, and a Usb port, which is also used to charge the device

Overall, it is a good device to use and the price / value can’t be matched. If this is your first tablet, you will be pleased. If you are looking for a higher end tablet, nothing seems to be able to beat the iPad at this time.

Lunch Cast – Move iTunes backup folder

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Windows users tend to have drive C: as a small drive for the operating system.  They use an external hard drive or partition for there data.  iTunes does not give you the flexibility to change where it backs up its devices.

One resolution is to use a program called junction that redirects folders to another location.

Download the tool from Microsoft

  1. Copy it to your windows folder
  2. Create a destination folder on your alternate drive (EG:  d:\backup)
  3. (XP users)  D:\>junction “C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\Mobile Sync\Backup” D:\backup -s
  4. (Vista / Windows 7) D:\>junction “C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup” “D:\backup” -s
  5. Change username to your actual username in the above examples
